Frequently Asked Questions
-
An aging-in-place occupational therapist helps families build a plan for successful, independent aging at home — assessing needs and connecting you with the right support to get there. At qualOT of life, that includes home safety assessments, medical appointment support, end-of-life planning, and coordinating between doctors, specialists, and family caregivers.

-
qualOT of life provides in-person visits throughout the Kansas City area and virtual consultations for families anywhere. This means we can support you even if your aging parent lives in a different city than you do, or if siblings helping coordinate care are spread across multiple locations — everyone can be part of the plan no matter where they live.

Yes — helping clients age in place safely is our primary focus. We combine home safety assessments, community resource connections, and personalized health management plans so your loved one can remain independent at home.
-
It depends on your needs — some clients need a single short-term consultation, while others benefit from ongoing support over months or years. We tailor the length and frequency of services to your situation.
Services
-
No, qualOT of life does not accept insurance. Working outside of insurance lets us offer personalized, time-unlimited support instead of the limits insurance-based care usually requires. See our services for details on rates and plans.
-
Rates for our one-time services, monthly support plans, and add-on services are listed on our Services page, starting at $150 for individual add-ons up to $900/month for our most comprehensive care coordination plan. If your situation doesn't fit neatly into one of these options, we're happy to build a personalized plan — reach out for a free 15-minute discovery call to talk through what you need.
Pricing & Insurance
-
No, qualOT of life is not a home care or caregiving agency. We don't provide hands-on personal care like bathing, dressing, or meal prep — instead, we help you plan, coordinate, and find the right people for that kind of support. Think of it as the "who do I call and what's the plan" layer, not the hands-on care itself.
-
No. Home health OT is typically insurance-based, time-limited, and tied to a specific medical episode. Dr. Lyndi Hinkle is a licensed occupational therapist (OTD, OTR/L), but qualOT of life is a private-pay planning and care coordination service — we use that clinical background to guide your plan, not to deliver therapy sessions.
-
Yes — qualOT of life's services are private pay and complement any healthcare services you're already receiving. We coordinate directly with your home health team, outpatient therapists, and other providers so everyone is working from the same plan.
-
Yes — we support adult children of aging parents & family caregivers directly, with respite planning, resources, and guidance so you can keep providing care without burning out. You don't have to be the one receiving support to benefit from working with us.
-
"Daughter for Hire" is the name of our most comprehensive monthly care coordination plan — not a hands-on caregiving service. It's built for families managing complex or evolving health situations who want someone actively coordinating between doctors, specialists, and care teams, the way an involved adult child would if they had the time, expertise, and availability to do it themselves. See our Services page for full plan details and pricing.
